Fencing in Northampton

Fence installers for every kind of Northampton garden

Northampton has every kind of garden, from long, narrow plots behind Victorian terraces to brand-new gardens on the large estates around the edge of town. We work across the whole town and its outskirts, about 25 minutes from our base in Higham Ferrers along the A45.

Whatever the garden, the fence is built the same way: posts set in concrete to about a third of their height, gravel boards to keep the timber off the soil, and every panel or board fixed level and true.

Areas we cover: Northampton, Duston, Kingsthorpe, Abington, Weston Favell, Moulton, Wootton, Upton and Overstone

Local knowledge

Fencing in Northampton: what to know

Northampton works a little differently from the rest of our area. Here’s what we look at on your free site visit.

A different council

Unlike the rest of our area, Northampton is covered by West Northamptonshire Council. The town has many conservation areas around the centre and older suburbs, so we check the right council’s rules for your property.

Upton, Wootton and Overstone Leys

Large newer developments such as Upton and Overstone Leys have added thousands of homes. Builder fences are often lightweight, and deeds or estate plans may control some boundaries, so we check before you commit.

Terraces and back alleys

Many terraced streets have rear alleys or jitties as the only way into the garden. We carry posts, panels and concrete in by hand, so a fence replacement doesn’t mean going through your house.

Heavy clay ground

Much of Northampton sits on heavy clay, which holds water and is tough on timber in the ground. Concrete posts and gravel boards are the longest-lasting choice on wet clay.

About 25 minutes along the A45 from our base in Higham Ferrers. We cover the whole town and the villages around it.

West Northamptonshire Council, not North Northamptonshire. Fences up to 2 metres, or 1 metre beside a road, usually don’t need permission, but conservation areas and listed buildings can have extra controls. We’ll check for you.

Yes. We carry everything in through the rear alley or jitty by hand, so there’s no need to bring materials through your house.

Yes. We can replace builder fences with stronger closeboard or featheredge on concrete posts. Check your deeds and estate rules first, as some boundaries may be controlled.
