Done well, pruning lets more light into your garden, takes weight off heavy limbs and removes dead wood before it falls. Done badly, with “topping” or hacking back to stumps, it leaves a tree weak, misshapen and sprouting dense regrowth.
We plan every cut around the tree’s natural shape and health, taking off only what’s needed. Before we start we check for Tree Preservation Orders and conservation areas, and we schedule major work outside the main bird nesting season. When we’re finished, every branch is chipped and taken away.
Reduces the overall height and spread of the crown while keeping the tree’s natural shape. Ideal when a tree has outgrown its space.
Removes selected inner branches to let light and wind through, reducing weight and the risk of storm damage.
Removes the lowest branches to raise the canopy over lawns, paths, drives and windows.
Takes out dead, dying and broken branches before they fall, making the tree safer around your home.
Shaping, trimming and reducing overgrown hedges and conifers back to a manageable height and width.
Most tree problems give warning signs long before a branch comes down. If you spot any of these, it’s worth getting the tree looked at.
If a tree or large branch has already come down in a storm, call us on 01933 213009. We’ll get to you as quickly as we can.
Every tree is different, so we price each job on a free site visit and give you a fixed, written quote within 48 hours. We’re not VAT registered, so there’s no VAT to add.

“Tree work is the one job where a shortcut can go badly wrong. We plan every cut, check for protection orders and nesting birds before we start, and leave your garden clear when we go.”

Trees can be protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO), or by being in a conservation area. Working on a protected tree without permission is a criminal offence.
With a TPO you need the council’s consent before work starts. In a conservation area you must give the council six weeks’ notice. We check this for every job and can help with the paperwork.
Most trees are best pruned in late autumn and winter, when they’re dormant and the leaves are off, so it’s easier to see the structure.
We avoid major work in the main bird nesting season (roughly March to August), as it’s illegal to disturb an active nest. Some trees, such as cherries and plums, are better pruned in summer to reduce disease risk.
As a rule, no more than about a quarter to a third of a healthy tree’s crown should be removed in one go. Taking off more stresses the tree and causes a mass of weak regrowth.
We never “top” trees by cutting them flat. A proper crown reduction keeps the natural shape and is far healthier for the tree.

Only if it’s protected by a Tree Preservation Order or is in a conservation area. We check this for every job before any work starts, and we can help you apply to the council if consent or notice is needed.
In most cases you can cut back branches that overhang your property, up to the boundary line, as long as the tree isn’t protected and the work won’t harm it. It’s good practice to talk to your neighbour first and offer them the cuttings.
Late autumn and winter suit most trees, as they’re dormant. We avoid major work during the main bird nesting season, roughly March to August.
